SANTA ROSA, California – February 23, 2021 – Following an unprecedent year, Sonoma County Vintners is giving consumers one more reason to celebrate the arrival of spring, with the declaration of April as Sonoma County Wine Month.
Throughout the month many of the more than 400 wineries in Sonoma County will be offering in-person specials, shipping promotions, innovative virtual tastings, cooking classes, winemaker meet and greets and more.
The region previously celebrated the occasion in October, however after postponing many festivities in 2020, the organization has moved the month up earlier in the year. “Sonoma County Wine Month is one of our favorite times of the year, and we look forward to celebrating our world-class Sonoma County wineries,” said Michael Haney, executive director of Sonoma County Vintners. “Our wineries have become incredibly creative over the last year and we’re excited to once again offer a variety of in-person and virtual consumer experiences, and exclusive special offers.”
April is one of the best times of the year to visit Sonoma County, with the arrival of bud break in the vineyards, signaling the end of winter and the start of a new growing season for the vines. The destination is currently open for outside tasting experiences. Visitors can expect thorough COVID-19 mitigation practices and are also asked to continue to wear face coverings in public, practice physical distancing and follow the public health authorities’ recommendations. Travelers are encouraged to contact each winery for reservations and to receive updates on current COVID-19 mitigation procedures before visiting.
With more than 60 varietals of wines and 18 unique AVAs, Sonoma County is a wine region like no other. In addition to the incredible diversity, Sonoma County is also the first wine region in the world to be 99 percent sustainable.
