Sonoma County Vintners Foundation Participates in Giving Tuesday
SANTA ROSA, Calif. (November 8, 2021) – The Sonoma County Vintners Foundation (SCVF) is excited to once again participate in Giving Tuesday, which will be celebrated this year on November 30. Giving Tuesday is a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to donate, collaborate and generously support nonprofits. The public is also welcome to participate by making a donation, which will be used to continue SCVF’s work in the local community, at https://sonomawine.com/foundation/.
“We are humbled that our vintners, affiliate members, event program sponsors and the general public continue to place high importance on supporting the extraordinary work of our Sonoma County beneficiary partners,” said Sonoma County Vintners Foundation President, Clay Mauritson, of Mauritson Family Wines. “The needs of the most vulnerable in our community have been magnified during the pandemic. We’ve been able to prioritize funds for immediate assistance while also continuing our commitments to help support nonprofits focused on education & literacy, health & human services, the environment, and arts & culture.”
Through the tremendous support and generosity of members and donors, grants have been distributed to 339 local organizations over the past five years. The Sonoma County Vintners Foundation partners with the Community Foundation Sonoma County, who provides insights to aid in distributing funds. SCVF’s beneficiary partners have shared their appreciation for how these grants are used to elevate their work.
“Thank you for the Sonoma County Vintners Foundation’s generous grant to Side by Side’s YouThrive and Community Counseling collaboration in Petaluma schools. By supporting our new three-tier mental health and early intervention project, you’ve helped us tighten the safety net for youth on the edge of or in crisis after over a year of COVID-19, distance learning, social isolation, and for many families, financial challenges.” -Christine Isana Garcia, Chief Executive Officer, Side By Side
“Ceres Community Project is deeply grateful for the partnership of Sonoma County Vintners Foundation as we continue to create positive change in our community through our core programs. In March, we served our one millionth meal…” -Cathryn E. Couch, Founder and CEO, Ceres Community Project
“We would like to thank you for the grant to support our Home Delivered Meals program. It has been a year of change, hope, sadness, and trauma…When we needed to feed additional community members, there you were. When we needed to help the students in our community, there you were. When we needed to find ways to help keep residents in their homes, there you were.” -Elece Hempel, Executive Director, Petaluma People Services Center
“Thank you for this grant and the opportunity to reduce impacts from the Wallbridge Fire to keep our water clean. The Russian River is one of the most critical resources in our region, providing wildlife habitat, clean drinking water, recreational opportunities, and a place where people can connect with nature.” -Don McEnhill, Executive Director, Russian Riverkeeper
“Thank you for your grant in support of our free after-school music training and social development program for underserved students, Simply Strings, in 2021-2022.
